I am a London born urban designer who has been in love with art from an early age. It wasn’t until I started doing Sahaja Yoga Meditation in 2014 that I took up watercolour in my spare time. This progressed into a deep passion for the medium and has resulted in putting a lot of time towards learning and improving. Meditation awakens a huge amount of creativity within and it felt natural to channel this into watercolour. When you meditate it becomes easier to not give in to the usual vices of everyday life and dedicate time to a skill that brings you joy. I found myself constantly wanting to either paint or watch tutorials on how to paint and haven’t looked back since.
Being clear in the mind before starting a painting is vital for its success and so too is the ability to be a witness to the process with the knowledge that you are not fully in control, and that’s okay. Meditation naturally establishes these qualities within making the task a lot sweeter. Hopefully this comes across in the paintings with the inner peace of the artist emitted to the viewer.
